PROJECT AIMS

MediaCast has partnered with the Australia and New Zealand Sarcoma Association (ANZSA) for two years to deliver the annual Sarcoma Awareness Month campaign.

Every year, we aim to achieve national coverage for the campaign, as well as international coverage in New Zealand. We target all key capital city audiences by targeting metro and major market publications, television outlets and radio stations.

The annual campaign aims to increase public awareness surrounding sarcoma and raise vital funds for ongoing research of sarcoma treatment.

Our campaigns for Sarcoma Awareness Month aim to increase awareness among the public of the need for funding for sarcoma research, and to encourage Australians to donate to ANZSA to fund sarcoma research.

STRATEGY

Ahead of the annual Sarcoma Awareness Month, we work in tandem with ANZSA to develop campaign messaging to define sarcoma as an illness, separate it as a specific and necessary area of cancer research, and highlight the importance of continued research support.

We develop a media release, Audio News Release, and pitches to create a cut-through as we target national and metro outlets across Australia and New Zealand to achieve coverage across the organisation’s target domestic and international markets.

Utilising a wide pool of available talent, including medical experts and case studies, we develop well-rounded and diverse stories, which we strategically pitch to targeted locations. We pitch live interview availability alongside an Audio News Release to secure coverage across radio, television, print and digital outlets. Leveraging our large number of available case studies, we target top-tier media local to them to secure further coverage.

SARCOMA AWARENESS MONTH 2023

Our most recent campaign with ANZSA was for Sarcoma Awareness Month in 2023, to highlight the significant deficit in funding sarcoma research receives compared to other cancers. Leveraging ANZSA’s new resource for cancer research, we aimed to drive engagement with the platform in the industry, encourage patients to participate in clinical trials and increase funding from the public.

Utilising two separate clinical voices, we emphasised the importance of clinical trial research to inform treatment options, as well as the experiences patients may face participating in these trials. Combining this messaging, we created an emotive story grounded in research and fact.

Combining our available case studies, expert talent and ANZSA’s new platform, our 2023 was an amazing success, with coverage secured across 653 radio items, 9 online articles, 10 television pieces and three newspaper articles.
